The unarmoured infantry are suitable as flexible support to reinforce threatened front sections or to secure the terrain in front of the heavy line. The blister pack is suitable for Hail Caesar armies from the Norman Conquest period.

    Background & context

    The Normans were descendants of Scandinavian settlers in Northern France and became a formidable military power in the 11th century. In addition to knights and heavy infantry, their armies also employed lighter foot soldiers, who remained more mobile without heavy armor. Such unarmored warriors could be used for reconnaissance, securing flanks, or as reserves in threatened sections of the front. In the context of the Norman conquest, they supplemented the well-known cavalry and archer elements with flexible infantry.

    On the tabletop

    Eight unarmoured Norman foot soldiers take on tasks away from the knights in Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage. Send them ahead to scout, or hold them back as a reserve to reinforce a sector of the front that comes under pressure. Historically such men garrisoned castles and guarded fords and supply routes. Together with pack A they make a larger unit of light infantry.
