    Description

Norman Unarmoured Cavalry A contains four unarmoured Norman cavalrymen made of metal. The riders sacrifice armour in favour of mobility and are thematically suited for flank attacks or engagements against unarmoured archers. This blister pack adds light cavalry to Norman armies of the Dark Ages period.

    Product details

    Background & context

11th-century Norman cavalry was not exclusively heavily armored. Lighter, unarmored horsemen could perform reconnaissance and flanking duties and attack weaker targets. Warlord describes the unit as particularly suited to threatening unarmored artillery or archer units. In combination with heavier knights, this creates a flexible cavalry wing.

    On the tabletop

Without mail armour these four Norman riders are faster than the armoured knights. In Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage you use them on the flank or send them against unprotected archers and artillery. Historically such horsemen took on scouting, pursuing fugitives and harassing the rearguard. Alongside the armoured knights they form the mobile part of your Norman cavalry.
