    Product details

    Background & context

The Normans were descendants of Scandinavian settlers in northern France, whose name became associated with Normandy. In the 11th century, they launched military campaigns across Europe, most notably the invasion of England in 1066. Mounted knights in chainmail became the striking core of Norman armies, combining mobility with striking power. A command troop with a musician fits this leadership role because signals and coordinated attacks were crucial for cavalry units.

    On the tabletop

These three mounted Normans in mail, among them a musician sounding the charge, lead your knights in Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage. As a command group you place them at the head of a cavalry unit or use the leader as a commander. Audible signals kept the horsemen together in battle. With knight sets A and B you get a coherent body of Norman cavalry for Hastings or the campaigns in southern Italy.
