    Product details

    Background & context

Norman Heavy Infantry represents the better-protected foot soldiers of 11th-century Norman armies. Chainmail, shields, and melee weapons made them more resilient than unarmored auxiliaries. In conjunction with cavalry and missile troops, such infantry could tie down enemy lines or hold key positions. Their use is particularly suited to armies of the Norman Conquest period and the Norman campaigns in Europe.

    On the tabletop

Spear and short sword make these eight Norman foot soldiers as useful in attack as in defence. In Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage they hold a position until your knights take effect, or carry an attack themselves. Most of a Norman army marched on foot, whether in England, southern Italy or Sicily. Pack A adds warriors in mail to the unit.
