    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    Norman armies of the 11th century combined cavalry, infantry, and archers. At Hastings in 1066, Norman archers were part of William's army and put pressure on the Anglo-Saxon shield wall. Archers could disrupt enemy formations and weaken vulnerable targets before close combat. In a Norman force, they thus fulfilled a supporting, but tactically important role.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Norman archers in Hail Caesar offer valuable ranged support for Norman forces. In SAGA, Pillage, and Lion Rampant, they can be deployed as skirmishers to weaken enemy formations before close combat or to control terrain. They are vulnerable in melee and should be protected by infantry or cavalry. They are particularly effective when preparing for a charge by Norman cavalry.
