Product details

Background & context

The Nissen hut was designed in 1916, during the First World War, by the engineer and officer Peter Nissen as quickly erected accommodation. Curved corrugated iron over a frame produced a semicircular roof that needed little material and was easy to transport. In the Second World War tens of thousands of these huts went up in British camps, on airfields and in depots. The American Quonset hut grew out of the same idea.

On the tabletop

For a troop camp, place the four huts close together with narrow lanes between them. Spread far apart, they become the quarters on the edge of an airfield with room for vehicles in between. Depending on the scenario you defend the camp against a commando raid or have paratroopers form up there for a mission. The huts suit scenarios around bases in England or behind the Western Front.
