Background & context

Der Wagentyp Berlin galt seit dem 17. Jahrhundert als der bequemste, den Europa zu bieten hatte: gefedert, geschlossen, für lange Strecken gebaut. Napoleon ließ sich solche Kutschen als rollendes Arbeitszimmer einrichten, mit Klapptisch, Kartenfach und Schlafgelegenheit. Eine davon fiel nach Waterloo preußischen Reitern in die Hände, während der Kaiser zu Pferd weiterritt. Das Fahrzeug wurde später in London gezeigt und zog dort mehr Publikum als mancher Sieg.

On the tabletop

Use this four-horse travelling coach with Napoleon and four attendants in Black Powder as a command piece for your French commander-in-chief, as an objective or as scenery. Napoleon himself makes a fine general at the head of your army. A natural scenario is the flight after Waterloo, when Prussian cavalry captured the coach while the Emperor escaped on horseback. It had originally been built for the Russian campaign.
