Hintergrund & Einordnung

The French army's light infantry took on tasks that went beyond rigid linear combat. Voltigeurs and Tirailleurs formed skirmish lines in front of the main formations, disrupting enemy movements and securing flanks. In the late campaigns from 1812 to 1815, such units were particularly important because the French army increasingly had to react flexibly to very diverse combat situations. They thus stood between regular infantry and specialized skirmishers.

Einsatz im Spiel

French Light Infantry 1812-1815 (Waterloo) functions in Black Powder, Sharp Practice, and Sharpe's Rifles as mobile infantry for skirmish lines, outpost engagements, and flank protection. Light infantry can put pressure on the enemy before the main line engages and disrupt enemy movements. The focus is on the Waterloo Campaign and general Napoleonic engagements. The "France" nation assignment helps in assembling appropriate forces and scenarios.
