Background & context

The Peninsular War was a crucial theater of the Napoleonic Wars. Following the French occupation in 1808, regular Spanish troops, guerrillas, and allied armies fought against Napoleon. The conflicts on the Iberian Peninsula tied up significant French forces and influenced the further course of the war.

On the tabletop

The second and third battalions of Spanish line regiments consisted only of fusiliers, and these 25 resin figures represent them for Black Powder. Instead of the Coronela their standard bearers carry the Sencilla with its red Burgundy cross. After 1808 these battalions were often raised from recruits and volunteers, and in your army they hold villages and crossings while the first battalion attacks with the grenadiers. Together the two boxes make a complete regiment.
