Product details

Background & context

The Peninsular War was a crucial theater of the Napoleonic Wars. Following the French occupation in 1808, regular Spanish troops, guerrillas, and allied armies fought against Napoleon. The conflicts on the Iberian Peninsula tied up significant French forces and influenced the further course of the war.

On the tabletop

For your Spanish army in Black Powder, this set provides a foot artillery howitzer with four gunners. Its high-angle fire hits troops in monasteries, villages and behind ridges, exactly where many actions in the Peninsula were decided. Next to the 8-pounders of the Spanish foot batteries it forms a mixed battery. Owing to the shortage of horses, these guns too were often drawn by mules or oxen.
