Product details

Background & context

Prussia was said to be an army with a state attached, and in the Wars of Liberation survival really did hang on the army. The artillery stood in the shadow of infantry and Landwehr, but it was the part that stopped enemy attacks and made the army's own advances possible in the first place. Horse batteries with light six-pounders were built for exactly that: small enough to change front at the trot, strong enough for canister at short range. Where they arrived in time, they decided whole sectors.

On the tabletop

Prussian horse artillery used light, highly mobile guns that raced to wherever they were needed during a battle. This 6-pounder with four gunners is one such gun for the years 1813 to 1815. In Black Powder you use it to beat off enemy attacks or to support your own advances, often alongside your cavalry. At close range it fires case shot, at longer range round shot.
