Background & context

The war on the Peninsula began in Portugal. In November 1807 General Junot marched through Spain on Lisbon, and the Portuguese royal family fled to Brazil. In August 1808 Wellesley landed with British troops and beat Junot at Vimeiro. Under the Convention of Sintra the French were then allowed to go home with their arms aboard British ships, which caused a scandal in London.

On the tabletop

Portuguese troops are often overlooked, although from 1809 they made up a large part of Wellington's army. A scenario in which Colin and his battalion take on Portuguese line infantry and Caçadores widens your Black Powder games with an opponent many collections lack. He fits into any French line unit and gives it the look of an army that has spent years in the country.
