Background & context

By early 1814 Wellington's army was already in southern France, while Napoleon fought the allied armies in the north-east. In March, Britain, Austria, Prussia and Russia bound themselves by the Treaty of Chaumont to make no separate peace until victory. Marshal Soult fell back as far as Toulouse, where the last major battle of the Peninsular War was fought on 10 April. Napoleon had already abdicated, but the news only arrived afterwards.

On the tabletop

Resin behaves differently from plastic, and Chaumont lets you learn that with little at stake. Wash the figure in lukewarm water with a little washing-up liquid before assembly so primer and paint adhere, and use superglue rather than plastic cement. After that he serves as a trial run for your colour scheme. In Black Powder he then joins a French line unit of the Peninsular War.
