Product details

Background & context

In May 1811 Marshal Soult tried to relieve the besieged fortress of Badajoz and ran into an army of British, Portuguese and Spanish troops under Beresford at Albuera. In a hailstorm, Polish lancers rode down an entire British brigade. The infantry lines then traded volley after volley at close range. Soult withdrew, but both sides had suffered losses rarely seen before.

On the tabletop

To fill the gaps in Spain, the French formed marching battalions from replacements and recovered men of different regiments. Neveux is a good start for such a unit: mix him with other single figures from the range and paint the men with small deliberate differences so their varied origins stay visible. In Black Powder you field this battalion like any other line unit.
