Product details

Background & context

Many battles on the Peninsula were sieges. Saragossa held out against a first French siege in 1808 and only fell in February 1809 after street fighting for every house. Later French garrisons in turn defended the border fortresses of Ciudad Rodrigo and Badajoz, which Wellington stormed in 1812 at heavy cost. Anyone posted to such a garrison knew hunger, mines and night assaults.

On the tabletop

For sieges and fights over towns Picard is a good choice. Put him behind a wall or inside a building with other veterans and let them form a small garrison in Black Powder that has to hold the place against British or Spanish attackers. Out in the open field he goes back into the line of his battalion.
