Hintergrund & Einordnung

The French line infantry formed the backbone of the Grande Armée and was present on almost all battlefields in Europe - from the Iberian Peninsula campaigns against British, Spanish, and Portuguese forces to the great battles against Austrian, Prussian, and Russian forces. Its combat power was based on a combination of disciplined column attacks and the flexible deployment of skirmishers. Grenadiers and Voltigeurs complemented the line troops as elite components: the former as powerful assault troops, the latter as agile skirmish lines in the forward combat zone.

Einsatz im Spiel

French Line Infantry works in Black Powder, Sharp Practice, and Sharpe's Rifles as skirmishing infantry for skirmish lines, outpost battles, and flank protection. Grenadiers provide the character of a hard-hitting elite infantry on the tabletop. The focus is on general Napoleonic engagements. The French national affiliation helps in building suitable forces and scenarios.
