    Zu jeder reitenden Batterie gehörten zwei Haubitzen mit 5,5 Zoll Kaliber, die den flach schießenden Kanonen das Steilfeuer beisteuerten. Ihre Granaten fielen hinter Deckungen, in Gebäude und in geschlossene Formationen, weshalb sie vor einem Angriff als Erste sprachen. Die Armée du Nord verfügte über rund 350 Geschütze, von denen Napoleon bei Waterloo 246 zur Verfügung standen, während der Rest mit Grouchy ins Leere marschierte. Den Linienverbänden waren davon nur etwa 150 zugeteilt.

    On the tabletop

    Every horse artillery battery of the French line included two 5.5-inch howitzers, which added high-angle fire to the cannon. In Black Powder this metal howitzer with four gunners engages targets behind walls and hedges, in villages or in dense columns. You use it first, before an attack, to shake the enemy position. Together with the 6-pounders of the same range you can build a complete battery.
