    Grenadiere und Chasseurs à Pied bildeten zusammen die Fußtruppe der Alten Garde. Wer dort diente, hatte mehrere Feldzüge hinter sich, bezog höheren Sold und nahm sich ein Murren heraus, das sonst keinem Soldaten der Armee durchging. Napoleon hielt die Garde bis zum letzten Moment zurück, ihr Einsatz galt als Zeichen, dass die Entscheidung gefallen war. Bei Waterloo kam dieser Moment zu spät, und der abgeschlagene Vorstoß riss die ganze Front mit sich.

    On the tabletop

    With a standard bearer, a drummer and two officers you put the command group on a battalion of Chasseurs à Pied of your Old Guard in Black Powder. Napoleon held the Guard back until the very end, and its commitment was a sign that the decisive moment had come, so on the table you likewise keep it in reserve for the final blow. These experienced veterans were known for being cool and resolute. At Waterloo, however, that moment came too late.
