Background & context

In the muster rolls of the time, two mounted serjeants counted as the substitute for one knight; that was how feudal service was converted when there were not enough nobles. The serjeant rode a lighter horse with no caparison, wore a mail shirt and kettle hat instead of a great helm and fought with spear or sword from the saddle. In return he was more numerous, cheaper and often more useful in the day-to-day business of war: he rode patrols, plundered supplies and pursued the beaten while the knights were already counting their prisoners after the fight.

On the tabletop

The twelve mounted serjeants add cavalry without noble rank to your knights, riding lighter horses without caparisons. With spear, sword, axe, mace or falchion they charge alongside the knights, guard the flanks or pursue beaten enemies. Two shield sizes and 15 heads add variety, and the arms and heads also fit the serjeants on foot. Pill bases for all riders are included.
