Background & context

Ein Baron des 13. Jahrhunderts zog nicht allein ins Feld, sondern mit seiner Familia: Verwandte, ein Bannerträger, ein Kaplan und die Ritter, die ihm durch Lehnseid verpflichtet waren. Das Banner war Befehlsmittel und Adresse zugleich - wer es sinken ließ, verlor den Zugriff auf die eigenen Leute. Falke und Jagdhund gehörten dazu, weil Jagdrechte dem Adel vorbehalten waren und jeder auf dem Feld sofort sah, wen er vor sich hatte.

On the tabletop

These four riders on barded warhorses give you the mounted leadership of your retinue for The Barons' War. From 24 heads, banners and a pennant you build leaders, standard bearers and a cleric, while the falcon and hound show a lord riding out to war. The banner marks where your command stands and keeps your men together. The group leads mounted knights and can rally troops in a wavering line.
