Product details

Background & context

After the Quebec Conference of 1943 the USA recruited volunteers for a formation that was to match the British Chindits: operating deep inside Burma, without roads and without supply columns. Around 3,000 men under Frank Merrill walked hundreds of kilometres across the Kumon range, supplied by mules and by air drops. In the end malaria, dysentery and exhaustion cost more men than the fighting did. After the capture of the airfield at Myitkyina in May 1944 the formation was practically worn out.

On the tabletop

Merrill's Marauders fought as the 5307th Composite Unit behind Japanese lines in Burma, and this squad lets you recreate that campaign in Bolt Action. An NCO and three men with submachine guns, two BAR gunners and four riflemen give it plenty of close-range firepower. In scenarios you use it to strike at supply routes and airfields. Man-portable weapons such as the bazooka and light mortar make suitable support.
