Merrill’s Marauders - officially the 5307th Composite Unit - were a US volunteer unit formed in 1943 for long-range jungle penetration operations in Burma. Armed with SMGs, BARs and led by native Kachin scouts, they disrupted Japanese supply lines deep behind enemy lines. This 10-man metal set brings the legendary jungle fighters to the tabletop.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

In 1943, the USA established a volunteer force to rival the British Chindits and make life difficult for the Japanese deep in the Burmese jungle. Under Brigadier General Frank Merrill, the 3,000 men of the 5307th Composite Unit operated on long marches far from regular supply lines - mules and horses handled resupply. Their support weapons were limited to bazookas, 60mm mortars, and occasionally Boys anti-tank rifles, all portable for rapid movement. Local Kachin scouts, who knew the Burmese terrain inside and out, made the unit even more formidable. As unique proof of their achievement, every man who served in the three battalions received the Bronze Star Medal.

Merrill's Marauders (5307th Composite Unit) were the US special force for the Burma Theater - the American answer to the British Chindits. These tough veterans fought behind Japanese lines in the mountains and jungles of Burma in 1943-44. In Bolt Action, Marauders are elite infantry with improved stats and special rules for long-range patrol operations. The 10-man squad with SMG, BAR, and rifle mix is ideal for CBI Theater setups.
