Background & context

Die Schreckensherrschaft von 1793/94 machte die Guillotine zum Sinnbild der Revolution und Maximilien de Robespierre zu ihrem Gesicht, bis er im Juli 1794 selbst auf den Karren stieg. Die Tricoteuses, die strickenden Frauen am Fuß des Gerüsts, sind keine Erfindung der Romanschreiber: sie saßen dort, Tag für Tag. Ihren Erfindern galt die Maschine übrigens als Fortschritt, weil sie allen Ständen denselben schnellen Tod versprach.

On the tabletop

These figures around the scaffold of the French Revolution bring the Reign of Terror of 1793 and 1794 to your Black Powder table as a scene. Robespierre, two executioner's assistants, a condemned man under the blade, a sans-culotte holding a severed head, a knitting onlooker and a basket of heads make a scenario piece that a fight in a French town of the revolutionary period can revolve around, such as a rescue or an uprising. The knitting women at the foot of the scaffold really existed. The guillotine model itself is not included, and all figures are metal.
