Product details

Background & context

The reconnaissance units of the US Army drove light tanks whose 37mm gun achieved nothing against bunkers and masonry. Instead of calling for heavy artillery and waiting, a short 75mm howitzer was set in an open turret on the chassis of the M5, and the result was fire support that kept up with the pace of the scouts. The open turret top was the price for this: against shell splinters and fire from upper storeys the crew stood unprotected.

On the tabletop

The M8 Scott mounts a short 75 mm howitzer in an open-topped turret on the chassis of the M5 light tank. It was built so that American reconnaissance units could bring fire support against bunkers and masonry without waiting for heavy artillery. In Bolt Action it follows your infantry and lays howitzer fire on buildings and positions. The crew has no protection from splinters and fire from above, so keep it out of close range. The kit is plastic.
