    Background & context

The M26 was the answer to a question the US Army had left unasked for too long: what to do when the Sherman is no longer enough against Panther and Tiger. Named after General John J. Pershing, it reached Europe in appreciable numbers only in the spring of 1945. That was enough for a handful of engagements, among them the filmed duel in front of Cologne Cathedral. Its real career began five years later in Korea, where the 90 mm gun met Soviet T-34s.

    On the tabletop

The M26 Pershing is the US Army's first true heavy tank and fits American armoured platoons in the last months of the war from spring 1945. Thick armour and the 90 mm gun work against tanks and infantry alike, so you build your force around it, and two or three of them make a late-war armoured platoon very powerful. The box holds a Bolt Action stat card and order die, an Achtung Panzer! datacard and tokens, plus decals.
