Product details

Background & context

US armoured infantry rode along with the tanks, while their mortar squads had to follow on foot. The answer was the M21: an M3 Half-track whose fighting compartment takes an 81mm mortar together with 97 rounds of ready ammunition and a crew of six. Normally the weapon was dismounted and set up in position, but it was also fired straight from the vehicle. Only 110 were built by the White Motor Company, and some of them went to the Free French Forces.

On the tabletop

The M21 lets your American mortar keep pace with tanks and armoured infantry in Bolt Action. The rear-facing 81 mm mortar in the fighting compartment fires over cover at dug-in enemies, while the heavy machine gun on its pintle mount keeps nearby infantry down. A proven approach is to fire and then change position before the enemy replies. The half-track is also meant for Achtung Panzer! games, and a decal sheet is included.
