Background & context

Bis 1944 war der Panzergrenadier zum Rückgrat der deutschen Divisionen geworden: ausgerüstet mit Sturmgewehren und Panzerfäusten, beweglich durch die Halbkette, aber selten in voller Sollstärke. Nur ein Teil der Bataillone fuhr tatsächlich Sd.Kfz. 251, der Rest marschierte oder saß auf Lastwagen. Wo die gepanzerten Kompanien eingesetzt wurden, dienten sie als schnelle Eingreifreserve, die Einbrüche abriegelte und mit den Panzern vorstieß.

On the tabletop

Thirty Panzergrenadiers and three late-version Sd.Kfz 251 half-tracks make up a rifle platoon with transports or a reconnaissance infantry platoon in Bolt Action. You build the grenadiers with submachine guns and assault rifles for close range, light machine guns for fire at a distance and Panzerfausts against vehicles. The half-tracks rush the squads to gaps in the front and then cover them with their machine guns, with a rear MG included as a build option.
