    Background & context

    Late Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Danish warriors were part of a transitional period, with Anglo-Saxon traditions and Scandinavian influences coexisting. Armoured elite fighters, local fyrd levies, and leaders were employed in shieldwalls to defend land, settlements, and claims to power. Equipment ranges from spears and swords to axes and throwing spears. The smaller set is particularly suited for skirmishes and narrative encounters of the Viking Age.

    On the tabletop

    For small engagements such as SAGA this pack supplies 30 Anglo-Saxons and Anglo-Danes, enough for a thegn and his retinue. Armoured and unarmoured bodies set the better-equipped fighters apart from the common levy, and bodies in religious robes add churchmen to the band. One-handed and two-handed axes, swords, clubs, spears and javelins let you arm each man differently. Later the band can grow into a full army with the larger box.
