    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Late Roman Empire of the 4th and 5th centuries was under enormous pressure from barbarian incursions, internal power struggles, and the increasing erosion of central state authority. The late Roman legions had changed significantly compared to the classical imperial period - heavy cavalry gained importance, while the infantry consisted of a colorful mixture of Limitanei, Comitatenses, and foederati.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The Late Roman Warband forms the core of a playable army for Late Roman, Romano-British, or Gothic forces of the 4th-5th centuries in Hail Caesar, SAGA, Pillage, and Lion Rampant. The scope of delivery combines several roles such as line combat, support, movement, and command, creating a cohesive fighting force from the set. On the tabletop, it is particularly suitable for setting up larger Hail Caesar battles or as a starting point for later expansions.
