Hintergrund & Einordnung

The late Roman army of the 4th and 5th centuries increasingly relied on light ranged troops to support its heavy infantry. Archers and slingers served as skirmishers or formed the rear rank behind shield walls.

Einsatz im Spiel

Late Roman Archers are used in Hail Caesar, SAGA, Pillage and Lion Rampant as an archer unit for Late Roman, Romano-British or Gothic forces of the 4th-5th century. In-game, they provide range, flank protection and sustained missile pressure against unprotected or already engaged targets. The unit should make use of terrain and distance and coordinate its effectiveness with the movement of the main line.
