    Product details

    Background & context

The late Roman army of the 4th and 5th centuries increasingly relied on light ranged troops to support its heavy infantry. Archers and slingers served as skirmishers or formed the rear rank behind shield walls.

    On the tabletop

The 36 archers give your Late Roman army the missile power that grew ever more important in the 4th century. Behind your infantry's shield line they support the front ranks with their arrows, or you can send them ahead as loose skirmishers. From the same frames you can build archers for Arthurians, Early Byzantines or Goths, depending on which side of the crumbling empire you take.
