    Product details

    Background & context

In 1941 the KV-1 was considered almost impossible to defeat, but two years later it had a firepower problem: its 76mm gun was no longer enough against Panther and Tiger. Until the IS-2 became available, an interim step built from existing parts helped out. The lighter KV-1S hull received a turret from the cancelled KV-13 programme and, inside it, the 85mm D5-T. Only a small series was built, which is regarded today as a foretaste of the IS series.

    On the tabletop

The KV-85 combines the KV-1S hull with a turret from the KV-13 programme and the 85 mm D5-T gun. Built as a stopgap until the IS-2 was ready, it gives your Soviet armoured platoon in Bolt Action a well-armoured tank that is dangerous even to Panthers and Tigers. In pairs or threes they threaten the largest German tanks. Besides a stat card, order die and decals, the box contains the Achtung Panzer! datacard and tokens, where it duels the big German tanks.
