Product details

Background & context

The Kriegsmarine sent men ashore whenever things got tight somewhere. In 1940 at Narvik the crews of the sunken destroyers fought on as infantry among the mountains, because their ships lay on the bottom of the fjord. Later the navy raised whole divisions, often led by its own officers. A lieutenant commander at the head of a rifle platoon was no curiosity. In Holland Welsh units met them so regularly that they gave them the name Blue Devils.

On the tabletop

Ten sailors in dark blue uniforms or U-boat leathers fight on land here with infantry weapons. In Bolt Action you field them as a squad of a German force that has to improvise in harbour fighting, in towns or during a retreat. Historically their service runs from the assault on Danzig via Narvik, Dieppe and Arnhem to Berlin, and in Holland Welsh troops gave them the name Blue Devils. The interchangeable heads add variety to the squad.
