Product details

Background & context

The Jagdtiger came about because in 1944 the Wehrmacht was looking for a gun that would penetrate any Allied tank at any range. A 12.8cm gun was set in a fixed casemate on the chassis of the Tiger II, complete with frontal armour of up to 250 millimetres. The result was the heaviest series-production vehicle of the war, and it was defeated by its gearbox, running gear and fuel. Of the just under ninety vehicles built, a good share were not lost to enemy fire but blown up by their own crews.

On the tabletop

The Jagdtiger is the heaviest vehicle you can add to a German army in Bolt Action from late 1944: a super-heavy tank whose 128 mm gun loses none of its penetration at long range. Set it up with a long field of fire and hunt enemy tanks; it is too ponderous for racing to objectives. Commander, pintle machine gun and decals for Otto Carius are included, and Achtung Panzer! covers it as well.
