Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

With their pikes carried upright, these eight Swiss show a block standing in good order and waiting for its moment. In Pike & Shotte they form the pike block of an Italian Wars mercenary army, against which heavy cavalry achieves little. The strength of the mercenaries from the cantons lay in the closed order of many ranks rather than in their equipment. Mix them with pikemen in other carrying positions and your block looks more alive.
