Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

Carried at 60 degrees, the shafts of these eight Swiss rise steeply above their heads and create the dense look of a forest of pikes. You place them in the front ranks of your block in Pike & Shotte. Emperor Maximilian I raised the Landsknechts on the Swiss model, and model and copy became sworn enemies. Landsknechts are therefore the natural opponents, until Marignano in 1515 ended the dominance of the Swiss blocks.
