Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

Slanted over the shoulder at 45 degrees, Swiss blocks carried their pikes on the march and only lowered the points shortly before reaching the enemy. In Pike & Shotte the eight metal figures show you a block moving across the battlefield in march order. From 1494 Swiss contingents served now France, now the Pope, and at Novara in 1513 they tipped the balance. Mixed with pikemen in other positions, they build a large block for the Italian Wars.
