    Product details

    Background & context

    On the tabletop

Swiss pike blocks were usually accompanied by shot giving support at range, and the Swiss particularly favoured the crossbow. In Pike & Shotte you add the eight metal crossbowmen to your pike block or field them as a unit of their own. The heavy crossbow with steel bow and windlass was slow, but needed neither powder nor match. Since the Swiss kept it longer than their neighbours, it suits Swiss armies of the Italian Wars around 1500.
