Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

Mounted crossbowmen accompanied the heavy cavalry in the Italian Wars. In Pike & Shotte these three figures ride ahead of the charge, screen it and loose their bolts into a pike block at point-blank range so its order breaks just before impact. You can attach them to a cavalry unit or field them separately as a small group of light horse. The same idea later grew into the firepower of the pistol-armed cavalry.
