Product details

Background & context

The Folgore was raised in 1941 as an airborne division for a jump on Malta. The attack never came, and so in 1942 the division ended up in the desert on foot. In the southern sector at El Alamein it held out for weeks against British attacks with light weapons and little ammunition, before the survivors fought their way west on foot. The division drew its firepower from the Breda 37 machine gun and the 81 mm Modello 35 mortar: exactly the weapons that go onto the bases here.

On the tabletop

At El Alamein the paratroopers of the Folgore Division held off British attacks until their last round was spent. With an MMG team and a medium mortar team, your Folgore platoon in Bolt Action gets the fire support that the Breda 37 and the 81 mm mortar provided historically. The machine gun keeps infantry in the open under fire, while the mortar hits targets behind cover. Two officers and an NCO with submachine guns plus a radio operator form the command.
