Product details

Background & context

The Italian paratroopers were among the most battle-hardened units of the Regio Esercito and fought with remarkable tenacity despite chronic supply shortages. The Folgore and Nembo divisions shaped the image of this branch of service - from the desert battles in North Africa to the fighting on the Italian mainland. After the armistice in 1943, the units split: parts of the Nembo continued to fight on the Axis side and formed the basis of the German 4th Parachute Division, one of the last Italian units to lay down its arms in 1945. Other parts switched sides and fought for the RSI.

On the tabletop

Six of the nine paratroopers carry submachine guns, joined by a light machine gun team and a man with a carbine. In Bolt Action this Folgore or Nembo squad is therefore made for close-range fighting, for example in villages and positions. It is the first of two Paracadutisti sections with different figures that you can field together. Suitable settings are El Alamein, Sicily and the fighting on the Italian mainland.
