Product details

Background & context

The Italian infantry made up for its thin heavy armament with specialised small teams. The Solothurn rifle stood between an anti-tank rifle and a light cannon: magazine, small wheeled mount, up to 20 rounds per minute. A dedicated sniper rifle, by contrast, never existed, and the light Carcano Modello 1891 had to do the job instead. Only the Brixia in 45mm calibre was really strong, faster and more accurate than comparable mortars in other armies.

On the tabletop

A Brixia light mortar, a Solothurn team and a sniper round out your Italian infantry platoon in Bolt Action. You place the 45 mm mortar behind cover, from where it hits enemies in trenches and behind walls. The Solothurn, half anti-tank rifle and half light gun, keeps enemy vehicles at a distance. The army had no dedicated sniper rifle, so the marksman uses the Carcano 1891. Bases and three order dice are included.
