Product details

Background & context

The Regio Esercito, the Royal Italian Army, was among the largest land forces in terms of numbers during World War II. Even before entering the war in 1940, the troops gained experience in armed conflicts in Albania, Ethiopia, and the Spanish Civil War. These campaigns shaped an army that, despite often outdated equipment and logistical weaknesses, demonstrated fighting spirit. The heavy machine gun Breda M37 was considered so reliable that it was even used by the British SAS in combat.

On the tabletop

Two officers, one with a pistol and one with a submachine gun, lead your Italian platoon in Bolt Action, while a medic and a radio operator complete the headquarters. The MMG team keeps infantry in the open under fire, and the medium mortar shells enemies in trenches and behind walls. You can field all the figures as regular Regio Esercito troops or as Blackshirts. Before 1940 the army had already fought in Albania, Ethiopia and the Spanish Civil War.
