    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Alpini are among the oldest and most traditional mountain warfare troops in the world, having been trained and equipped for combat in rugged high mountains since the late 19th century. In World War II, these elite units were deployed on several fronts and were considered particularly resilient even under the most adverse conditions. The Breda M37 machine gun was one of the most powerful infantry weapons of the Italian armed forces at that time and, together with the medium mortar, formed the backbone of heavy fire support at the platoon level. Medics and command personnel supplemented the combat power by providing leadership and support immediately behind the firing line.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    This set provides everything a complete Alpini heavy weapons platoon needs on the tabletop: The MG squad takes on interdiction and suppression tasks against enemy infantry in the open, while the mortar team can engage positions and covered targets at a distance. The two officers enable simultaneous command for multiple platoons and offer tactical flexibility in army building. Medics and observers round off the support options, making the set a compact basis for thematic mountain and Italian campaign scenarios.
