Product details

Background & context

Raised by royal decree in 1872, the Alpini are the oldest mountain formation in the world. Their distinguishing mark is the black raven feather on the cap, which earned them the name Le Penne Nere. In the Second World War they fought in Albania, France, Greece, Yugoslavia, East Africa and on the Eastern Front. It turned bitter on the Don, where mountain troops were sent against Soviet tanks on the open steppe, exactly where their training served them least.

On the tabletop

The Alpini were known as Le Penne Nere after the black raven feather in their caps, and since 1872 they have been the oldest mountain troops in the world. In Bolt Action the 30 figures give you Italian mountain infantry for Albania, Greece, Yugoslavia, East Africa or the Don, with either M33 steel helmets or alpine caps. Carcano rifles and carbines arm the rifle squads, the Beretta SMG works at close range and the Breda M30 adds firepower at range.
