Product details

Background & context

After the First World War Italy held a large number of captured Austro-Hungarian 10cm field howitzers built by Skoda. The Italian army adopted them as the Obice da 100/17 Modello 14 and kept them in service for decades. In the Second World War they served on every front where Italy fought, including with the Alpini in Albania, Greece and on the Don in 1942/43.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action the 100/17 counts as a medium howitzer for your artillery platoon. It can shoot directly or indirectly, and indirect fire denies the target the benefit of cover. With a spotter it can even reach enemies the gun itself cannot see. That makes it a good tool for pinning infantry in prepared positions. Keep the four Alpini and their gun further back and let someone up front observe the target.
