    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The experienced soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army were considered particularly disciplined and battle-hardened infantrymen who had years of campaigns in China and Southeast Asia behind them. Their tactical approach was characterized by close-quarters combat orientation, high endurance, and a strong willingness to persevere even under the most difficult conditions. As veterans, these units had an experienced squad leader and an organically embedded MG team, which made the squad flexible and powerful. They formed the backbone of Japanese infantry units on numerous battlefields in the Pacific.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    As a veteran squad, this unit brings greater resilience and more reliable behavior under fire to the tabletop than regular infantry. The NCO takes the lead, while the embedded LMG team can pin enemy movements and create suppressive fire at medium distances. Thematically, the set is particularly well suited for scenarios depicting island hopping, jungle warfare, or the defense of heavily fortified positions - from Guadalcanal to Iwo Jima.
