    Product details

    Background & context

    On the tabletop

As bodyguards of kings and earls, the 36 huscarls are the heavily armoured spearhead of your late Anglo-Saxon English army. Armed with the two-handed Dane axe they form the core of the shield wall, or they can take up spears instead. There are enough round shields for every figure, with kite shields added for the later Saxons and Anglo-Danes. The Dane axes also fit some bodies from the Late Saxons set. At Stamford Bridge and Hastings they stand around Harold Godwinson.
