    Background & context

    The Daimler Dingo alone could not meet the needs of British reconnaissance, so from 1942 Humber supplied a second light scout car. Over 4,000 came off the line and ended up with Commonwealth, Polish and Czech formations until the last day of the war. The two-seater was armed only with a Bren or a Vickers K for self-defence; what protected it was its low silhouette and its speed. The figure included shows Joe Vandeleur, who in September 1944 drove the Irish Guards forward along the one narrow road towards Arnhem.

    On the tabletop

    The Humber Scout Car is a light scout car for reconnaissance and liaison in your British or Polish army in Bolt Action. It relies on speed and a low silhouette and carries only a light machine gun for self-defence. Brigadier J.O.E. Vandeleur is included, the man who led the Irish Guards towards Arnhem during Market Garden in 1944, making him a fitting officer for games based on that operation. A stat card, decals and an order die complete the set.
