A quarter of a million Gurkhas from Nepal fought in over 40 battalions alongside the British Commonwealth forces in World War II - in North Africa, Italy, Greece and, most notably, Burma. The Gurkha Section (Far East) depicts a potent infantry section with an NCO, Bren gunner, and riflemen, armed with rifles and the feared Kukri knife.
