Hintergrund & Einordnung

About a quarter of a million Gurkhas from the Kingdom of Nepal served in over 40 battalions under British command in the Second World War. They fought in Syria, North Africa, Italy, Greece, and especially in the jungles of Burma against the Japanese army. The Far East version depicts Gurkhas in light tropical equipment, as they operated primarily as part of the legendary Chindit units behind Japanese lines. In addition to their firearms, each Gurkha carries the traditional kukri - a heavy, curved knife that gained legendary renown in close combat.

Einsatz im Spiel

The Gurkha Section is a versatile infantry section for jungle and Far East scenarios in Bolt Action. With an NCO, Bren gunner, and eight riflemen, it offers classic British section strength and is equally suited for offensive pushes through dense terrain as for holding key positions. Thematically, the unit is an excellent fit for Burma campaigns and Chindits scenarios, where it acts as specialized long-range infantry against Japanese troops.
