Product details

Background & context

Gurkha battalions were led by British officers, but the backbone was formed by the Gurkha officers from their own ranks: men who had spent years in the same company and spoke both Nepali and English. Whoever took over a platoon knew his men by name, and in Burma as in Italy that counted for more than any map. Accordingly, they led from the front, with whistle, stick or drawn kukri, visible to their own men and unfortunately to enemy snipers as well.

On the tabletop

Each of these four platoon commanders belongs to a different platoon of your Gurkhas in Bolt Action: rifles, artillery, heavy weapons and reconnaissance. As Gurkhas were famous for close combat, their officers had to be brave and fit enough to keep up at the front, and that is how they lead on the table. One carries a captured Japanese Shin Gunto, a detail that makes him instantly recognisable. The figures are cast in Warlord Resin.
