    Background & context

    Die Italienischen Kriege ab 1494 machten aus Norditalien einen Dauerkriegsschauplatz und aus deutschen Söldnern ein Exportgut. Frundsberg baute die Landsknechte zur gefürchteten Pikeninfanterie aus und führte sie bis vor Rom. Götz von Berlichingen verkaufte seine Dienste dagegen dorthin, wo es sich lohnte, und wurde durch Fehden und Gefangenschaften zur Legende - seine Hand aus Eisen tat dem Ruf keinen Abbruch.

    On the tabletop

    Georg von Frundsberg and Götz von Berlichingen of the iron hand lead your Landsknechts and mercenaries of the Italian Wars in Pike & Shotte. Place Frundsberg as commander at the head of your pike blocks, which he built into a feared infantry and led all the way to Rome, and Götz as the leader of a smaller mercenary band or as a scenario figure. Both served in the army of Emperor Maximilian I. The figures are metal.
